It was Sunday morning, early, and my electric power failed. Deciding to prepare for church anyway, I found my flashlight. It was not long, perhaps half an hour, when the power came back on.
My thoughts turned to the spiritual – lost power – lost faith? Once you have experienced the power of the Holy Ghost, I do not believe you can fully lose either. You may feel weak in either or both.
Let me tell you a true story. When my brother was working for the FAA at the Miami International Airport, he was a supervisor in Air Traffic Control. When the new building was finished, he took us on a tour. There was far more of the building under the ground than appeared at street level. We walked up and down stairs, by-passing the many offices, into the break room where they ate their meals, into a huge air conditioned room full of large machines which we learned were the computers or "brain" of the radar systems and many other fascists of the overall work in the building., back down to the lowest level where men and women manned the large radar screens mounted in front of them. This control center did not manage the operations at the local airport. They work with airplanes many miles north of Miami and down into the Caribbean Islands, keeping them on tract until they reached the area where local airport controllers will take over. The controllers could speak directly to the pilots. There were small printouts with the flight numbers and other pertinent information which was directly supplied by the computers in that air conditioned room. This enabled the controllers the information required for them to do their job. (Note: The whole building was air conditioned; I just wanted to emphasize the necessity for the temperature control in the computer room.)
What if there was no power? The computers would not be able to operate. The needed air conditioning to maintain the proper temperature which is necessary for the function of the computers would all be gone without electric power.
There had to be backups. There were heavy-duty generators which were powered by gasoline and automatically came on in a matter of seconds when electricity failed. What if the generators failed or during a national emergency maintenance personnel could not get any gas?
There was a bank of batteries, bound together to supply power until something could be done to get all civilian planes to a safe air port.. Other control centers handled the military aircraft.
What is the first thing you do when your battery is low and you need to get the vehicle to the mechanic or auto parts store? Why you get a JUMP-START.
So often that is all we need in the spiritual, a jump-start. When we bound ourselves together in a pray meeting or a church service or just two or three, Jesus, our power giver will give us the necessary jump-start. He is all we need. If you cannot get to anyone for whatever reason, start your own prayer meeting. Read the Bible. Find the faith scrip-
tures. Find a special promise which is just for you in the Bible and hold on with all your might.
Remember: Jesus is only waiting for you to call on Him. Faith is one of the gifts of the Spirit, the Holy Ghost in you, the hope of glory. "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed --- " Matthew 17:20 So if you are short on power, seek the One who said: " I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5
Of course, you are aware of many more Faith scriptures. Find them and make your own personal list and claim them for yourself.
