Jesus Christ : The Theme of Scripture

When God said "let us make man in our image" he knew in his omniscience that the lst man Adam would be a shadow, a figure or a type of Christ Jesus, who would be born of a woman some 6000 years later as the "expressed image of God," ....the 2nd Adam.

From the beginning of God's intervention upon this earth, ... He concealed his eternal purposes which He had purposed to be fulfilled in Christ Jesus. This mystery of Christ was kept hidden from mankind across ages and generations. However, God did move upon his prophets during each age to speak in veiled terms of his purposes in His Anointed. The mystery of Christ became more clear to men after the birth of Jesus through the virgin Mary and his three and one-half year ministry.

By means of hindsight, we are now able to look back and see that even though the mystery was veiled to man, the peoples of the ages prior to the New Testament period were exposed to God's eternal purposes in Christ. The Old Testament people were exposed to Christ and God's purposes in Him as they were exposed to his shadows, types, or figures. These shadows were projected from the lives and experiences of Bible characters from Adam to Christ as their lives played out a type of Christ and a type of the anointing and ministry of Christ.

Old Testament worship within the Tabernacle of Moses with its sacrificial gifts and ordinances of law were a figure of the Christ who was to come. God not only knew what was to happen, ....he planned to tell us of his intentions by means of veiled language, hiding the mystery in figures and similitudes or types and shadows until the time of the reformation was to come. At that time, God revealed that his eternal purposes had always been in Christ Jesus.

2000 years ago, at the time of reformation, it was time that the prophet's voices of all preceding ages would take 2nd place to the voice of God thru Christ, his Anointed. God's wisdom, at that time, was going to speak only thru His Son Jesus. Peter did not understand this until after he made the blunder of attempting to honor Moses and Elijah on an equal level with Jesus. God said, "This is my beloved Son , hear ye him.!"

Jesus said "I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending" From this should understand that the Messiahs coming and God's salvation grace was not a band-aid or a reaction to counter an act of darkness. It was planned from the beginning.

Jehovah veiled his plans from clear distinct sight, yet pointed to his intentions through words, phrases, titles, and names which pointed to Messiah; describing the Christ in shadow language.

Jehovah also veiled His plans in Old Testament worship, the Tabernacle & Temple, furniture, the sacrifices, ordinances of the law, objects, Kings, Priests, Prophets, warriors, servants, handmaidens, circumstances, and more.

All of these pre-figures were types of Christ who was to come. God was hiding the mystery in figures, similitudes, types and shadows until the time of Christ.

The scripture bears this out:

Adam, ...was the figure of he that was to come ( Rom 5:14)

The Tabernacle of Moses in the wilderness and its gifts and sacrifices were a figure. (Heb 9:9)

The handwriting of ordinances, which were a shadow of things to come, were taken out of the way, ...nailed to the cross. (Col. 2:17)

The law and its sacrifices were a shadow of good things to come. (Heb 10:1)

These things and events happened unto them for examples ( 1Cor 10:11)

The Mystery of Christ, was not made known to the men of other ages, but is now (AD. 50) revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit ( Eph. 3:5)

This Mystery from the beginning of the world (age) has been hid in God, according to the eternal purposes which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Eph 3:9)

The Mystery which had been hid now is made manifest to his saints. (Col. 1:26)

According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Eph 3:9)

The O. T. prophets prophesied of the grace that was to come through Christ. Those same prophets knew by revelation that not unto themselves, but unto us (AD 60) they were ministering the things which the have come unto us by the Holy Ghost (1 Pet 1:12)
